Last lesson Lauren and i started building the side triangles. we glued the two pieces together and nailed a triangle for support in the middle at the bottom. That is all we did last lesson as we used the rest to work on our assignments which i am a bit behind in. This lesson we finished the triangle and put both sides on and put two triangle supporters on each bottom side and next lesson Lauren wants to put another supporter on the point of the triangle. 

second lesson back this term Lauren and I decided to start making our Trebuchet. We made the base and finished that. We then started to cut out the wood pieces for each of the triangle bases for each side.  Going of the measurements that Lauren and I had drawn up at the end of term 3. our measurements have been working correctly so far and next lesson we hope to start putting each of the triangle side bases together and attach them to the base. 

The past few weeks we have been working on our cars and out assignment. My car does not go as fast very fast but works well. It was quite simple to make and i enjoyed doing it.

Term 3 Cars.

This term after handing in out Torch assignment Mr Ward has introduced a new project were we have to a lot of testing and problem solving and creating the fastest car we can to beat the past years times and hopefully Mr Ward. We also have to do some math and writing. we have the term to create this car and then at the end of the term we have a race against everyone else in the class and see how well our problem solving went. I didnt enjoy Pro Desktop that much so i am excited to start this new project.

Pro Desk top task

This week we have been working on an task of using pro desk top to make 8 different objects to then print out and hand into Mr Ward. Doing this task has been fun working on pro desk top even though it got a bit frustrating working with the computers and trying to figure everything out it did get easier and i got the hang of where everything is and how everything works. It was a fun easy task altogether.

Sarah and I have finally finished and presented our Jungle Resort that we called SalixJobinsons. we were confident in our presentation and oral and hope to get a good mark. Our resort turned out really good as i thought it would. There are parts that we would have liked to make better but we were very happy with our end result. I was excited to finally finish and show everyone our hard work.

For the past week and a bit that we have been back at school Sarah and I have been finishing our jungle resort. we have found the grass we wanted which we were really pleased about. we finished each of our hunts and are almost ready so glue them to the tree. we have almost finished out tree we just have a bit more painting to do. we are now in the process of writing up our speech.

Tree design

Today in class Sarah and I started making our tree which is the main feature of our resort. We got ideas of the movie Avatar for the tree design as it being really large and spread out across the area we have to make it look unique. next lesson we are going to start making our small huts out of paddle pops and attach them to our tree.

Jungle resort

Today Mr Ward taught us how to use Plaster of Paris to make mountains and rivers. He used scrunched up newspaper and chicken wire to make the base and staple it down. Then he used the plaster to mould over the top of it and smooth it down. He then showed us how to clean it up properly and make it look really good and realistic. This will be very useful as Sarah and I are going to use this in our resort model as we are making a waterfall. 

This week Mr Ward has been showing us different ways to build our resort, He has shown us how to ground the wood to make pools and ponds. I had a go and it was more difficult than i though it would be but i got the hang of it.

DF Time Management Timetable

First lesson year 10

This term we are starting the year making model resorts with a partner. Sarah and I have already thought of heaps of good ideas that we would like to use. I am very excited to start this new unit of work because i think it will be fun and I will get to use my imagination more is creating this project. Sarah and I have put together ideas of making a earth friendly jungle resort which should be a lot of fun to make.
